Cellulose Extraction Thimbles, Whatman Standard

Overview

Whatman cellulose extraction thimbles are produced from high-quality alpha cellulose cotton linter and have excellent mechanical strength and retention. Standard single thickness thimbles have a wall thickness of approximately 1 mm (10.0 µm nominal particle retention). Double thickness thimbles have a wall thickness of approximately 2 mm (6.0 µm nominal particle retention) for applications where higher retention and increased wet or dry strength, or rigidity is required.

The high purity of the materials ensures reliable and reproducible analytical results Thimbles of Type 603 are made from high-quality cellulose and satisfies DIN 12449. Type 603t thimbles are thin wall thimbles that satisfy British Standard BS 2071 (thin wall). Whatman has standard and high performance (thin wall) versions of cellulose extraction thimbles available in a variety of dimensions and wall thicknesses for optimization of retention, rigidity, and wet or dry strength.

Cellulose extraction thimbles listed include Whatman thimbles sized to match automated extraction equipment. Several options of thimbles are sized or designed for apparatus such as Büchi B-811, Gerhardt Soxtherm, Foss-Tecator Avanti 2050 or Dionex ASE 200 or Dionex ASE 100/300 Accelerated Solvent Extraction automated extraction cells. Common applications are determination by extraction of the content of free lipids in food, extraction of sulfur in gaseous masses, extraction and quantification of components in industrial products, extraction and quantification of protein or fats in grain, meat and many other matrices, or the dimensions of dust in air or industrial gases.

Standard thimble measurements (in mm) are interior diameter and external length.
